The Mets imploded in the ninth inning on Thursday in Philadelphia, and its something fans have become used to this season.
The not-so-Amazins have blown a major league worst 20 saves this year — and they haven’t even lost every game that included
a blown save. Everyone from Edwin Diaz to Jeurys Familia to Tyler Bashlor have been culprits.
Here’s a look at the late-inning carnage from the bullpen this season:
April 6: Mets lead Nationals 1-0 in sixth and 3-2 in eighth. Robert Gsellman allows a run in the sixth and Jeurys Familia
allows home runs to Anthony Rendon and Wilmer Difo in the eighth. Mets rally in 8th to win. Mets 6, Nationals 5.
April 15: Mets lead Phillies 6-5 in eighth. Familia and Robert Gsellman give up a run on a single and four walks. Mets win
it in extras on an error. Mets 7, Phillies 6 in 11 innings.
April 30: Mets lead Reds 3-1 in ninth. Familia allows two runs on three singles and a walk. Alonso sac fly wins it
in extras. Mets 4, Reds 3 in 10 innings.
May 21: Mets lead Nationals 4-3 in eighth. Familia and Daniel Zamora allow two runs before Mets come back. Mets 6,
May 23: Mets lead Nationals 3-1 in eighth. Gsellman gives up three runs on two singles, a walk and a double before Carlos
Gomez’s 3-run homer in bottom of inning rescues them. Mets 6, Nationals 4.
May 24: Mets lead Tigers 6-5 in sixth and 7-6 entering seventh. Tyler Bashlor allows game-tying sac fly in sixth, and Drew
Gagnon gives up three runs in seventh. Tigers 9, Mets 8.
May 25: Mets lead Tigers 2-1 in 6th and 4-3 in eighth. Bashlor allows home run to Brandon Dixon in sixth, and Diaz allows game-tying single in eighth. Mets 5, Tigers 4 in 13 innings.
May 27: Mets lead Dodgers 3-2 entering sixth. Bashlor gives up three runs, followed by Zamora giving up another
three. Dodgers 9, Mets 5.
May 29: Mets lead Dodgers 8-5 entering ninth. Diaz gives up four runs, including Alex Verdugo walk-off sac fly. Dodgers 9, Mets 8.
June 1: Mets lead Diamondbacks 5-1 eighth. Familia and Gsellman allow four runs before Bashlor surrenders walkoff single in extras. Diamondbacks 6, Mets 5 in 10 innings.
June 4: Mets lead Giants 3-2 entering seventh. Lugo surrenders Brandon Belt game-tying double. Gsellman allows six runs in the 10th. Giants 9, Mets 3.
June 13: Mets lead Cardinals 4-2 entering ninth. Diaz gives up two runs to tie, then a third run in the 10th. Cardinals 5, Mets 4.
